Rotterdam Eye Hospital is now working with ‘Teams’ to its satisfaction
Using Microsoft Teams to consult with colleagues and contact clients
Due to the outbreak of the corona crisis, many healthcare institutions and organizations want to use Microsoft Teams. This also applies to the Rotterdam Eye Hospital , which uses this application to enable colleagues to consult with each other and to make contact with clients possible. Thanks to good cooperation between Q-Advise, ilionx and the Eye Hospital, ‘Teams’ is now running properly. “The integration with Outlook did not initially go as planned. Our own software supplier could not solve it. Fortunately, Ilionx quickly found the problem and came up with an excellent solution,” says Bert Snel, Manager I&A, MID and Facility Services at the Rotterdam Eye Hospital.
“We had just switched to a new Azure environment and the integration of the calendar with Outlook did not work. Our software supplier came up with a hybrid solution that did not meet the requirements and entailed the risk that we would be forced to switch after the trial license for Teams expired, with all the associated costs,” Snel outlines the problem. “Via Q-Advise, which already helps us with licensing issues, we came into contact with ilionx, which immediately recognized the problem and worked with us to find a suitable solution.”
Q-Advise advises and facilitates with licensing advice and IT asset management issues. “In recent weeks, we have been inundated with questions about remote working such as Microsoft Teams and Windows Virtual Desktop. This often involves more than just activating licenses. As an expert in the field of software advice, we have various external parties that can assist our customers on a technical level, such as ilionx did at the Eye Hospital,” says Victor Dsane of Q-Advise.
Good and fast
“The Eye Hospital was very clear about what they wanted,” says account manager Freek van Dieren of ilionx. “The solution had to fit the current ‘on premise’ environment and have a temporary character.” Eric van Diemen, engineer of ilionx, got to work with the most important rules that ‘everything had to be reversible’ and ‘had to be arranged quickly’. “I dared to do that,” laughs Van Diemen. “I specialize in Office 365 and know what is possible and what is not. We found a hybrid solution, so that the Agenda could be added to Teams. The problem was found in half a day and the solution developed and implemented within a day, so that the hospital could continue quickly and everyone could continue working within their own environment.”
Thanks to the solution that ilionx provided and implemented, the Eye Hospital has scaled up its online services. “The advantage is that we are not tied to it, but I honestly think that Teams will be here to stay. Previously, management agreements with our suppliers always took place on location, but I expect that we will change this to two online consultations and one physical one. But I also think that telephone consultations with clients will continue.
With this solution, clients are less confronted with the burden of going to the hospital.” Van Dieren concludes: “Healthcare institutions, governments and other organizations will include Teams and other cloud products in their IT policy and will have to think about how they can guarantee privacy in this. If you consider that the St. Luke’s University Health Network in the United States already runs entirely on Teams, then healthcare institutions in the Netherlands should certainly be able to do so as well. We are happy to help with that.”
